To provide an internal combustion engine igniter which is mounted to a cylinder head by integrating an ignition plug 2 with an ignition coil 3, thereby reducing a size, etc.
An insulator 5 comprises a plug-side cylindrical part 51 having a built-in center electrode 22, and a coil-side cylindrical part 52 extending from the plug-side cylindrical part 51 to an anti-combustion chamber side, and all high-voltage parts in the ignition coil 3 are accommodated in the coil-side cylindrical part 52. Thus, the coil-side cylindrical part 52 can ensure an insulation between the high-voltage part and a low-voltage part, and further only a secondary winding 32 is needed to insulate and fix with an insulating resin. Therefore, there is no risk of a conventional resin crack leak due to a thermal shock stress, and accordingly it is not necessary that a stress relief part is added or a thickness of an insulating resin layer is enlarged, thereby forming a simple structure with a small size.
