Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent soot from adhering to a nozzle hole when hydrocarbon for preventing clogging is injected from a hydrocarbon supply valve.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes a hydrocarbon supply valve (15) disposed within an engine exhaust passage. In the case where injection control for injecting hydrocarbon from the hydrocarbon supply valve (15) to perform exhaust treatment is stopped, when soot is not discharged from the engine that is, when supply of fuel into a combustion chamber (2) is stopped, in order to prevent clogging of the hydrocarbon supply valve (15), hydrocarbon for preventing clogging is injected from the hydrocarbon supply valve (15). Since the hydrocarbon for preventing clogging has been injected once, injection of the hydrocarbon for preventing clogging is stopped until the injection control for exhaust treatment from the hydrocarbon supply valve (15) is started.
