The laser beam machining head is provided with a sleeve 3 which has a passage 3a inside for an optical fiber 1, 2 for transmitting a laser beam and which emits at the end part a laser beam from the optical fiber 1; with an optical system 9 which converge the laser beam from the optical fiber 1 of the sleeve 3 so as to emit the laser beam to an object 10 to be machined; with a nozzle tip 13 which is installed at the tip end of the optical system 9 and which emits the converged laser beam from a nozzle 16 to the object 10; and with a casing 4, 14 which is equipped with this nozzle tip 13 at the tip end and which contains the optical system 9 and the sleeve 3. In addition, the machining head is also provided with a device 8 for supplying the inactive gas that passes through a space between the passage 3a inside the sleeve 3 and the optical fiber 1, 2, that passes through a space between the parts 11, 12 comprising the optical system 9 and the casing 14, and that exhausts from the nozzle tip 13, which has a nozzle 16 in the center as well as a bypass port 17 for discharging the inactive gas around the nozzle.
