To provide a latch device which can always insure stable and secure sinking movement without fear of making unable a sinking movement of a latch.
Extended end surface plates 16a, 17a are provided to each of the rear ends of both of the end surface plates 16, 17 of the latch 9, and the extended end surface plates 16a, 17a can be extended to the length which is projected more backward than a latch-appearing hole 11 of the front 8 in a state that the latch 9 is projected. Then notches 22, 23, which are used for preventing interference with arms 20b, 20c of a torsion coil spring 20, are provided to the extended end surface plates 16a, 17a. Because of this, the latch 9 can appear/disappear through the latch-appearing hole 11 stably and securely by the guidance action of the extended end surface plates 16a, 17a. Thus, even when the latch 9 is strongly pushed either to the end surface plate 16 on one side or to the end surface plate 17 on the other side at the time of sinking, the latch 9 securely sinks into the latch-appearing hole 11 by the guidance action of the extended end surface plates 16a, 19a. Thus, the traditional problem can be resolved that the rear end edge of the end surface plate on one side or the rear end edge of the end surface plate on the other side jams on the front of the front.
