PURPOSE: To efficiently dry a large amount of laver, by revolving the first and second drying chains provided in series in the longitudinal direction in the opposite direction and circulating and transferring laver screens in the shape of the figure 8 between the chains.

CONSTITUTION: The first drying chain 6 and second drying chain 7 provided in series in the longitudinal direction of a laver drying chamber are driven in the mutual opposite direction. Each laver screen 10 fed by a lower passage (6A) of the chain 6 is pushed by a hooking plate 20 of the first transfer chain 12 and transferred to the upper transfer passage (7B) of the chain 7 and each laver screen 10 fed by a lower transfer passage (7A) of the chain 7 is hooked by hooking pawls 27 of the second transfer chain 21 to cross the upper passage (6B) of the chain 6. Thereby the screens are circulated, transferred in the shape of the figure 8, dried and taken up by a laver sheet forming chain 1 at a taking out position 48 and fed to a peeling part 4 to peel the laver.
