A leaching method for lithium includes: preparing a mixed powder by mixing a powder containing the lithium-containing metal oxide, in which lithium is combined with a transition metal oxide, with a carbon material powder; pulverizing the prepared mixed powder, e.g. by carrying out pulverization using a ball mill, thereby inducing a solid-phase reaction between the lithium-containing metal oxide and carbon in the mixed powder through a mechanochemical reaction and reducing the lithium-containing metal oxide to produce a reductant of a lithium-containing metal from the lithium-containing metal oxide; and mixing the pulverized mixed powder with water to induce leaching of lithium into water.
