Title:
LEAN MIXED AIR NITROGEN OXIDE CATALYST WITH SOL-GEL ALUMINA MEMBRANE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH08108074
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain a lean mixed air NOx catalyst with excellent aqueous and thermal stability by forming the catalyst to reduce the waste from oxygen rich environment by incorporating a sol-gel processed membrane and a transition metal loaded on the membrane.

The catalyst for reducing wastes from oxygen rich environment is formed of a sol-gel processed membrane, on which the transition metal is loaded. A sol-gel processed alumina membrane and a sol-gel processed alumina/ silica membrane are produced in order to use as a lean mixed air-NOx catalyst. Further to reduce a contact NOx of a lean mixed air-burn engine, a transition metal is loaded on the sol-gel processed membrane. In order to obtain an exhaust system acting over a broad range of operating conditions, the lean mixed air-NOx catalyst, particularly by combining the sol-gel processed alumina/ silica catalyst (converter) with a three-way catalyst(TWC), NOx reduction system is obtained for performing contact reduction under the lean mixed air-burn condition of vehicle (engine) exhaust gas.
