PURPOSE: To obtain a leveling agent comprising a specific ether, an emulsifying agent and, as necessary, an active component for assisting in readily penetrating a dye into fibers and capable of carrying out the level dyeing of polyester-based fibers.
CONSTITUTION: This leveling agent contains (A) 10-90 pts.wt. of an ether represented by the formula [R1 is an alkyl, an alkenyl, a cycloalkyl, an aryl or the like; R2 is H or methyl; (x) is 1, 2 or 3; (y) is 0-7], (B) 3-30 pts.wt. of an emulsifying agent (preferably a mixture of an alkylene oxide adduct to a vegetable oil with an aliphatic or an aromatic sulfonic acid) and, as necessary, (C) 0-70 pts.wt. of a dye carrier for promoting the penetration of a disperse dye into the polyester fibers. The level dyeing agent is added to a dye bath for dyeing the polyester fibers to dye the polyester fibers at 90-140°C. The polyester fibers are uniformly dyed by adding the auxiliary without generating bubbles in a dyeing machine.
