A library controller 101 performs control so as to read the contents of a specified logic volume from a cartridge housed in a library device 115 through a recording/reproduction controller 109 and a recording/reproducing device 114 and copy them to the different cartridge fed from a feeding port 122 and performs the control so as to change the logic volume of a copy origin to the state of non-use and then discharge the different cartridge of a copy destination from a discharge port 123. Also, the control is performed so as to select the unused logic volume in the housed cartridge, read the logic volume of the copy origin from the fed cartridge and copy it to the selected logic volume and the logic volume of the copy destination is changed to the state in use.
