Title:
LIGHT EMITTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2005203437
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To solve the problem that deposition of water or moisture on exposed portions of lead wires of a light emitting diode rusts them or causes them to rust or be short-circuited when the diode is used in a high moisture place, a dirty place with much water, or in water, etc.

The light emitter has a light emitting unit 3 for radiating electromagnetic waves at least within a wavelength range from 180 nm to 480 nm, lead wires 4a, 4b connected to the light emitter 3 and a light emitting diode 2. It comprises a light source cover 5 made of a material permeable to at least UV rays among the electromagnetic waves for covering the light emitting unit 3 and a part of the lead wires 4a, 4b. After housing the light emitting unit 3 in the cover 5, lead wire leading-out openings of the cover 5 and other openings thereof are heat sealed to hermetically seal the light emitting unit 3 after or while evacuating the cover 5 or reducing the pressure therein.
