Abstract:
To provide a light source device capable of reducing size, and a projection device having the light source device.SOLUTION: A light source device 60 comprises: an excitation light irradiation device 70 emitting blue wavelength band light; a switching diffraction grating 202 disposed such that the blue wavelength band light emitted from the excitation light irradiation device 70 is made incident at an angle inclined with respect to an incidence plane, for changing, in a time division manner, either a light path making the incident blue wavelength band light transmit in a first direction or a light path making the same transmit in a second direction; a fluorescent wheel device 100 disposed such that the blue wavelength band light in the second direction having transmitted the switching diffraction grating 202 is made incident, which has a red light emitting region emitting fluorescent light including red wavelength band light by irradiation of the blue wavelength band light; and a dichroic mirror surface 204 disposed between the switching diffraction grating 202 and the fluorescent wheel device 100, which reflects the red wavelength band light emitted in the red light emitting region and through which the blue wavelength band light having transmitted the switching diffraction grating 202 is transmitted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
