To provide a lighting system for a vehicle which appropriately detects the road situation ahead, improves driver's visibility by expanding the lighting area of the road ahead, and is effective for road safety.
The lighting system for the vehicle is equipped with lighting area control means (bending lamps) LBL, RBL controlling the area illuminating the road, and a lane mark detection means detecting a road lane mark LM. When the lane mark detection means does not detect the lane mark, the lighting area control means performs the control to expand the illumination area toward the range where the lane mark is not detected. The illumination area toward the range X1 where the lane mark does not exist is expanded, and it can be possible to more brightly illuminate the range where the necessity of the safety confirmation is high on the road ahead such as an intersection, a fork road, a confluence road, or a curved road where the lane mark does not exist, and the visibility of the road by the driver is improved.
