To improve an aperture ratio by separately forming a reflecting film from a color filter on respective substrates and to obtain a high-quality liquid crystal apparatus or the like.
The liquid crystal display apparatus contains a liquid crystal sealed between an element substrate and a color filter substrate. A reflecting layer is formed on a part of a resin scattering layer and a contact part in a reflective display region of the element substrate. A colored layer is formed on the color filter substrate in a position opposing to pixel electrodes. The element substrate and the color filter substrate are held at a specified distance by a photo-spacer formed in the color filter substrate side and in a position corresponding to the reflective display region so as to form a multi-gap. As the reflecting layer is structured as separated from the colored layer in the above liquid crystal display apparatus, reflection characteristics can be improved. Further, as a region including a contact hole which does not contribute to display is not formed, the aperture ratio can be improved.
