Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a liquid crystal polyester resin composition, comprising a specific ethylene copolymer containing epoxy groups, specified glass fibers and a specific liquid crystal polyester in a specified proportion, excellent in heat resistance, mechanical properties and tensile strength and useful for moldings, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal polyester composition comprises (A) a liquid crystal polyester such as the one comprising recurring units of formulas I to III, (B) an ethylene copolymer, containing epoxy groups and comprising (i) 50-99 wt.% ethylene unit, (ii) 0.1-30wt.% unsaturated carboxylic acid glycidyl ester unit or unsaturated glycidyl ether unit and (iii) 0-50 wt.% ethylenically unsaturated ester compound unit and (C) glass fibers having 5-25μm number- average fiber diameter, 30-1000μm number-average fiber length and 2-150 ratio of the number-average fiber length/number-average fiber diameter without treating the surfaces thereof. The ratio of the components (A) to (B) is 55.0-99.9wt.% component (A) and 45.0-0.1wt.% component (B). The ratio of the component (C) is 50-1wt.% based on 50-99wt.% total weight of the components (A) and (B).
