NEW MATERIAL: A compd. represented by formula I (R is H or groups represented by formulae II, III, IV, V, R2 is a group represented by formula Vl, R1, R3, R5 and R are H or methyl and R4 is methyl or ethyl) or its acid addition salt wherein R is other than H.
USE: An insecticidal and miticidal agent.
PREPARATION: Saccharopolyspora spinosa NRRL1835 is cultured in a culture medium to which assimilable carbon, nitrogen, inorg. salt and a very small amt. of other essential elements are added at 24-33°C by a submerged aerobic culture method to generate biomass and broth. The culture soln. is filtered to separate and recover the biomass which is, in turn washed with water to remove residual broth and the washed biomass is mixed with a polar solvent (e.g.; ethanol) to be conc. to be extracted with a non-polar solvent and the extract is adsorbed on an inverse phase silica gel adsorbent and the solvent (e.g.; acetonitrile methanol mixed soln. containing a small amt. of THF) is eluted to obtain the objective compd.
