PURPOSE: To obtain the magnetic disk device mounted with the thin-film magnetic head formed with high accuracy in hole length and track width by forming a protective film having a contact hole in the front end part of an upper magnetic film.
CONSTITUTION: An upper magnetic core is bisected and the front end part 12 and a rear part 15 are connected through the contact hole 16 provided in the protective film 13 to form a magnetic circuit together with a lower magnetic film 22. The front end A of the rear part 15 of the upper magnetic film is positioned behind the point B of a gap depth 0. The purpose of such formation is to prevent the leak magnetic flux generated from the rear part 15 from affecting a recording medium. Further, the rear end D of the front end part 12 is projected from the rear end C of the contact hole 16 toward the rear of the head. The purpose of such projection is to surely connect the front end part 12 and the rear part 15 through the contact hole 16. The purpose is achieved by using such head.
