PURPOSE: To form a magnetic head into the construction having extremely excellent workability by using a core material consisting of a magnetic metallic material which is sandwiched on both sides with substrates each consisting of a composite material consisting of crystallized glass and a material having the better workability than the workability of the crystallized glass and forming a magnetic path and working gap of such magnetic metallic material.

CONSTITUTION: An amorphous layer 1 is sandwiched by the composite substrates each consisting of the crystallized glass 2 and the ferrite 9 having the better workability than the workability of the crystallized glass. Joining of the crystallized glass 2 and the ferrite 9 is executed by welding of high-melting glass 10 having the softening point higher than the gap forming temp. (480°C) in such a manner that a gap surface 4 does not move in the stage of forming the gap. The working efficiency is thereby remarkably improved as compared to the conventional practice.
