To provide a magnetic polishing method utilizing an ellipse vibration and a device therefor in which an increase of a processing amount and a high flattening effect are obtained even in a work such as a metal mold having a complex surface shape.
In the magnetic polishing method, a surface of a work 2 disposed in a magnetic field is polished by a grain brush 4 comprising the large number of magnetic abrasive grains 3 bonded along a magnetic domain by magnetic force. It is characterized that relative motion is carried out by the ellipse vibration in which magnetic polishing is carried out by simultaneously carrying out vibrating or rocking vertically and horizontally (forward/rearward or right/left direction or forward/rearward direction or right/left direction) between the grain brush 4 and the work 2. The increase of the processing amount and the high flattening effect are obtained even in the work 2 such as a metal mold having a complex surface shape, etc.
