To provide a high-reliability magnetic recording medium in which inversions of magnetization are hardly caused by providing a supporting layer consisting of magnetic material having a low coercive force and a low Curie temp. in adjacent relation with a recording layer and making the magnetization of only the supporting layer diaappeare by a laser beam or the like at the time of reproduction, and to provide a magnetic recorder utilizing the medium.
A supporting layer 21 having a coercive force smaller than that of a recording layer is provided in adjacent relation with a recording layer 11 between the recording layer 11 and a substrate 13. Since respective magnetic fields are closed between the recording layer 11 and the supporting layer 21 as shown by lines 12 like two magnetic domains of both sides in a normal state, inversions of magnetic domain are hardly caused and the reliability of a long period is increased. Magnetization of the supporting layer 21 is made to disappear by raising the temp. of a read-out part or a part including the neighborhood of it to a temp. sufficiently lower than the Curie temp. of the recording layer 11 and sufficiently higher than the Curie temp. of the supporting layer by the operation of the radiating of laser beams from the back side of the substrate or the like at the time of reproduction. Thus, recorded information can be read out with a sufficient signal intensity by the same reproducing head 31 as that of the conventional magnetic reproducer.
