PURPOSE: To increase the squareness ratio of an orientation direction and to improve the sensitivity of a magnetic recording medium by forming a magnetic layer of multiple layers having the thickness of <2 times the major axis length of magnetic powder and incorporating a radiation curing type resin into all the layers.
CONSTITUTION: The film thickness to be coated at one time is adjusted to about ≤2 times the length of the magnetic powder 6, by which the degree of freedom in the vertical direction of the magnetic powder can be restrained and the orientation in the specific direction is improved to improve the sensitivity of the magnetic medium. The radiation curing type resin which can be cured instantaneously is used as the binder for the magnetic layers 5aW5f and is cured at every one coating and the resin is coated freshly thereof, by which the magnetic recording medium having the extremely good orientation of the magnetic powder is obtd. An electron ray curing method by an electron ray accelerator is advantageous for the irradiation source in terms of the control of absorption dose, the introduction to a production process line, shielding of ionization radiation, etc.
