Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve formability, baking hardenability, and strength by subjecting an Al alloy of Al-Mg-Si type to solution heat treatment and then to cooling at a specific cooling velocity within a specific temp. range and holding the above in the above state for a specific period.

CONSTITUTION: An Al alloy of Al-Mg-Si type containing 0.3W1.5% Mg and 0.2W2,0% Si is subjected to solution heat treatment and then cooled down to 60W130°C at ≥100°C/min cooling rate, which is held in the above state at a temp. between 60W130°C for 0.5W48hr. By this method, excellent formability and baking hardenability can be provided, a change with the lapse of time, particularly that after hardening, can be prevented, and formability can be maintained, and further, superior factor of improvement can be provided even if subjected to such a heat treatment as baking, etc., by means of low-temp. heating for a short time.
