Abstract:
PURPOSE: To select the composition of a friction lining according to a required lining characteristic.
CONSTITUTION: After a friction lining formed of a powder mixture is coated on the surface of a flat sheet metal blank, a conical or cylindrical support ring is formed from a flat sheet metal blank, and a friction lining is coated at least on the peripheral surface of the ring to manufacture the friction ring for the clutch or the brake. The powder mixture for the friction lining is mixed with a synthetic resin binder before it is coated on the flat sheet blank, so that after the coated friction lining mixture is partially solidified, the flat sheet metal blank is formed to form as a support ring. Hardening of the synthetic resin binder in the friction lining mixture is not started before the flat sheet metal is formed on the support ring.
