Abstract:
PURPOSE: To form an I-joint high accurately while eliminating a waste of material by forming a metal pipe-made element pipe, having an external diameter almost equal to the external diameter of the I-joint to be cut into a prescribed length in accordance with height of the joint, into the I-joint via a three-step press process and a pipe connecting process.
CONSTITUTION: In the case of manufacturing an I-joint A, a metal pipe-made element pipe, having an external diameter almost equal to the joint A to be cut into a prescribed length in accordance with height H of the joint, is fed to the first press process and formed into the first intermediate product 7 having protrusive curved surface-shaped parts 8, 9 in the pipe end edge. Next in the second press process, the second intermediate product 16, having tapered sectional parts 17, 18 tilted in a direction of the center line X in a part to the upper/lower side, is formed, and in the following third press process, the third intermediate product, having a center holed disk-shaped part 24 and an internal peripheral end edge with this center hole 26 eqaul to an internal diameter of the product in a part to the upper/lower side, is formed. Thereafter, a connecting pipe 35 is secured to a through hole 34, formed in a side peripheral part of the intermediate product, to complete the I-joint A.
