MANUFACTURE OF MAGNETIC TAPE AND CHARACTERISTIC EVALUATION METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THIN FILM COMPOSITE

PURPOSE: To manufacture a magnetic tape with the measurement of an elastic deformation by a method wherein a specified tension is applied to the magnetic tape wound to cause a local elastic deformation of the magnetic tape with a protruded piece and the elastic deformation is measured non-contact.
CONSTITUTION: An circular arc-shaped easing body 11 is wound with a magnetic tape 9 and a local elastic deformation of the magnetic tape 9 is caused with a protruded piece 14 provided on the circular arc-shaped casing body 11. The protrusion value of the protruded piece 14 from the circular arc-shaped outer circumferential surface is adjusted with a protrusion value adjusting jig 16. A V groove 17 is provided at the center of the tip of the jig 16 to facilitate the positioning and fixing of the protruded piece 14. The jig 16 is so arranged to receive a female thread cut into the circular arcshaped casing body 11 and a screw to be fitted thereinto, hence allowing the adjusting of the protrusion value of the protruded piece 14 and the protrusion value is fixed by a lock screw 18. In the circular arc-shaped casing body 11, the tape 9 is pulled out of a reel 21 and a positioning device 15 on the outer circumferential surface of the casing body and a tape guide 8 are combined to eliminate twisting and moreover to allow the positioning of the protruded piece 14 almost at the center of the tape.
