To manufacture an anisotropic bonded magnet showing remarkably high magnetic characteristics by performing mechanical grinding or mechanical alloying in vacuum or inert gas while a magnetic field is applied.
Rare earth-transition metal based magnet alloy is worked in magnet powder by using mechanical grinding or mechanical alloying. This mechanical grinding or mechanical alloying is performed under a vacuum atmosphere or by sealing inert gas in a tightly closed vessel. Further, this mechanical grinding or mechanical alloying is performed in a magnetic field and/or the following thermal treatment and nitriding treatment are performed in a magnetic field. Magnet powder which has peculiar fined alloy organization and whose crystal grain is made unisotropic is obtained. As a result, rare earth-iron based magnetic powder of magnetic anisotropy is safely manufactured with small energy consumption.
