Abstract:
PURPOSE: To economically manufacture a steel excellent in arrest characteristic and further, high in HAZ toughness with good productivity without using expensive Ni and without executing a segregation diffusion treatment.
CONSTITUTION: The finish rolling is executed to the steel billet composed of, by wt.%, 0.03-0.12% C, ≤0.5% Si, 0.5-1.6% Mn, 0.0016-0.0030% S, 0.010-0.060% Al, 0.005-0.012% Ti, 0.0040-0.0060% N, 0.0005-0.0015% B and ≤0.015% Nb and satisfying ≤0.35% C+Mn/6 and the balance iron and inevitable impurities, at ≤850°C starting temp. of the finish rolling and ≥760°C completing temp. of the rolling and ≥50% rolling reduction ratio, after heating it at ≥1000°C and <1250°C.
