Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain easily an ultrasonic driving body having a high driving efficiency by a method wherein a polarized piezoelectric element is cut obliquely in the direction of polarization and a driving electrode is provided on the opposite cut faces of a cut piece thereof. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 3a and 3b for polarization are formed on the upper and lower surfaces of a piezoelectric element 2, and a DC voltage is impressed on the electrodes 3a and 3b. Thereby the element 2 is polarized in the direction perpendicular to the upper and lower surfaces thereof. After the polarization, the electrodes 3a and 3b are removed by grinding. The element 2 is cut obliquely in the vertical direction, so that a plurality of cut pieces 4 can be obtained. The cut faces 5 of each cut piece 4 are to be slanting in the direction of polarization. A driving electrode 6 is formed on the cut faces 5 of the cut piece 4. By impressing an AC voltage of a prescribed frequency between the electrodes 6 in this construction, a displacement occurs in the direction P of polarization. The direction of this displacement has a prescribed inclination along the direction P of polarization. Therefore said displacement has a horizontal force component and this enables the drive for feeding of a body to be driven. By this method, an ultrasonic driving body having a high driving efficiency can be obtained easily.
