Abstract:
To provide a method for preparing an optical fiber preform that forms a high quality glass membrane without generating cracks and has high reliability.
In the method for preparing the optical fiber preform using the plasma inducing CVD method by supplying a raw material gas into a glass tube 100 to form a plasma area PR and performing the reciprocating movement relatively to the plasma area PR while heating the glass tube, including a step of depositing the glass membrane on the inner face of the glass tube, the method is characterized by heating the glass tube 100 so that the surface temperature of the glass membrane is kept in a range of 800°C-1,400°C.
