Abstract:
To provide an efficient manufacturing method of an optically active trifluoromethyl carbinol derivative as an important intermediate for medicines.
A trifluoromethyl ketone derivative is reacted with an alkyl zinc reagent in the presence of a catalytic amount of an optically active, nitrogen-containing multidentate ligand to give the optically active trifluoromethyl carbinol derivative. The manufacturing method exhibits high selectivity and hardly by-produces impurities hard to separate, and is therefore a very useful method for efficiently manufacturing the optically active trifluoromethyl carbinol derivative.
