To significantly improve the compatibility of flour with an acrylic emulsion and latex by adding a nonionic surfactant shown by formula to an adhesive.
An adhesive to be used for the manufacturing of a composite plywood made up of a plywood material of a needle-leaved tree and a broad- leaved tree, is composed of 0.002-5 wt.% of nonionic surfactant expressed by formula: CXH2X+1O(C2H4O)nH (X is 10, 12, 14 or 16; (n) is an integer of 16-24) for 100 wt.% of an adhesive mixture which comprises either of a combination of (A) 30-85 wt.% of acrylic emulsion and/or latex, (B) 10-60 wt.% of heat-setting resin and (D) 5-40 wt.% of filler or a combination of (A) 20-85 wt.% of acrylic emulsion and/or latex, (C) 10-40 wt.% of crosslinking agent and (D) 5-40 wt.% of filler. Thus it is possible to obtain the outstanding compatibility and fluidity and the high water-resistant adhesion even with a hardly adhesive material, and further, reduce the amount of bleeding of formalin significantly, when this adhesive is used.
