Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a high hardness without carrying out a quenching heat treatment and the like, in a material for grinding tool used for a grinding surface plate and the like.
SOLUTION: This material for grinding tool consists of an iron material which includes 0.8 to 3.5wt.% of C; 1 to 7wt.% of Si; 5 to 14wt.% of Ni; and no more than 1wt.% of Mn; and furthermore, it includes at least one sort selected from Mg, Ca, and Ce of less than 0.1wt.%, as necessary. This iron material has a graphite composition, and at the same time, its hardness is Hv 250 or higher. A grinding surface plate 1 consists of the above materials for grinding tool, and it has a martensite composition of 30% or more in the area ratio, for example, and has a metal composition in which the graphite spherical rate is 70% or more.
