Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medicinal composition to implant living cells in the brain or the spinal cord.
SOLUTION: This medicinal composition, which is used to implant nonpathogenic cells with surviving ability in the brain or the spinal cord of a mammal in order to supply neuroactive matters, includes cells adherent to the external surface of a supporting matrix but not encapsulated by the supporting matrix. Such cells may be the ones that are derived from nerves or paranerves, or the ones that are capable of expressing or producing the neuroactive matters, not being like activated unripe spider cells. The supporting matrix is made of a material that allows the cells to adhere to after the in vitro incubation and can be transplanted in the brain or the spinal cord of a mammal without giving such reactions as destroying injected cells or blocking the bioactivity of the implanted cells.
