PURPOSE: To make it possible to sufficiently compensate for the phase changes of upper and lower sidebands based on the change of an antenna system characteristic by placing a compensator by an amplitude frequency characteristic adjusting circuit having no phase in front of a stereo modulator.
CONSTITUTION: Both left and right signals inputs L, R are supplied directly to synthesizing devices 14L, 14R after the signals are directed to amplitude frequency characteristic adjusting circuits 12L, 12R which have no phase change and are composed of transversal filters, for instance, respectively and the amplitude frequency characteristic is properly adjusted. The signals are supplied to a stereo modulator in a state that leakage of a proper quantity is made to be generated on purpose by making a proper mixing ratio via variable gain amplifiers 13L, 13, respectively and supplying the signals to synthesizing devices 14R, 14LL on the opposite sides with each other. When a compensator having this constitution is placed in front of a stereo modulator, the degradation of a stereo characteristic by the upper and lower sidebands phase changes is sufficiently compensated, the phase change can be equalized as in the case of an ideal antenna system characteristic.
