PURPOSE: To improve the man-machine performance by registering once the content of a menu in a form of a graphic and selecting an optional menu by drawing input operation to a drawing area and displaying the picture, thereby reducing number of menu selection.
CONSTITUTION: In applying drawing input to the menu area, a coordinate data corresponding thereto is normalized and converted into a registration pattern data and stored in a pattern data storage means. In applying drawing input to the drawing area, a coordinate data corresponding thereto is converted into a recognition pattern data, collated with the registration pattern data and the suitable data is selected. That is, even without the operation of the menu area, a desired data is selected by having only to operate the drawing area among the registration pattern data group to output the picture data of the corresponding menu. Thus, the picture data is converted into a video signal to display the picture on the screen.
