Abstract:

To provide a new optically active bis-metal alkoxide complex catalyst and a method for the production of an optically active homoallyl alcohol by using the catalyst.

The optically active homoallyl alcohol is produced by reacting an aldehyde with a metal allyl compound (the metal is boron, silicon, tin or indium) in the presence of the optically active bis-metal alkoxide complex of general formula (1) (Ra is a (substituted) 1-6C alkyl, a (substituted) aryl or a (substituted) aralkyl; M is a group IIIA atom, a group IVB atom or a lanthanoid atom; and A is (S)-binol ((S)-1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diol) or the like).
