The metal complex coloring matter is represented by chemical formula (1) [wherein M is a metal or a metal ion functioning as a coordination center having a coordination number of 6; R1-R14 are each independently a hydrogen atom or a monovalent substituent group; X1 and X2 are each independently a monovalent group coordinately bonded to the metal or the metal ion; and provided that at least one of R1-R14 is an optionally substituted aryl group, that R1-R14 may be linked together to form a ring structure and that X1 and X2 may be linked together].
