Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a metal detector for locating a metal concealed in a wall and determining the depth thereof using two pairs of coil.
CONSTITUTION: Two pairs of coil 1, 1' and 2, 2' are connected, respectively, with oscillators 3, 4 and oscillated continuously at different frequencies. A signal being effected by a metal is measured and weighted. A metal is located based on the strength of the signal. An elevating/lowering unit is operated after finding out a concealed metal in order to measure the depth thereof. A metal detector is then elevated by a predetermined value. Depth of the concealed metal is calculated from the measurements while taking account of a predetermined variation of distance to the wall surface. A manual marking unit identifies the measuring point.
