In a metal filter A made by press-forming of a wire gauze in which vertical lines 1 and horizontal lines 2 made of metal wires are woven so as to cross and keep a predetermined distance from each other, crossing parts of the vertical lines 1 and horizontal lines 2 forming the opening edge part A3 are pressed flat at the time of press-forming to form recessed parts 3 and 4 engaged with each other to the opposing surfaces where the vertical lines 1 and the horizontal lines 2 are overlapped each other. The vertical lines 1 and the horizontal lines 2 forming an outer peripheral end part of the opening edge part A3 are prevented from separating from the opening edge part by the engaged recessed parts 3 and 4.
