PURPOSE: To perform the automatic forming of a tire with high reliability by forming a tire cover by means of a primary forming drum moving round, and by fitting a tread/breaker band monolithically on the cover transferred onto a secondary forming drum.

CONSTITUTION: A pulrality of primary forming drums 11 moves round intermittently along a plurality of separate forming stations 2, 3... 6 arranged in the sequence of sticking of tire body materials. One kind of tire body material is stuck sequentially on one another, in the main, at each of the stations 2, 3...6, and thus a cylindrical tire cover is formed. Next, the tire cover is transferred to at least one secondary forming drum, 35 whereby a bead ring is set thereon. Meanwhile, a tread/breaker band formed beforehand is tansferred to the secondary forming drum 35, and fitted monolithically on the tire cover by the shaving operation of the drum. Then, both edges of the tire cover is rolled up around the bead ring and connected thereto with pessure for finishing.
