Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for controlling a continuous casting operation, by which a molten steel surface level in a mol is suitably controlled in the continuous casting operation.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of starting the casting in the continuous casting equipment operation, first and second electrodes 1, 2 are inserted in the mold 7 and a prescribed signal is inputted to the first electrode 1. The prescribed signal transferred to the second electrode 2 through the molten steel 10 poured into the mold 7 and brought into contact with the first and second electrodes is received, and the molten steel surface level in the mold and this rising speed are measured based on the change of time delay caused by propagation of the prescribed signal. At the point of time when the molten steel surface level in the mold 7 reaches a prescribe position, the drawing of a cast slab is started and a drawing speed and molten steel pouring rate from a tundish are adjusted based on the molten steel surface level in the mold 7 and the rising speed to control the molten steel surface level in the mold, and this molten steel pouring operation is shifted to a stationary operation.
