PURPOSE: To provide a control method of molten metal surface level in a mold, by which the variation of the local molten metal surface level or an electric noise is discriminated and the unnecessary movement of a slide valve or a stopper is eliminated and the molten metal surface level can be kept at a constant.
CONSTITUTION: In the control method of the molten metal surface level in the mold, the molten metal surface level in the mold is continuously detected with a sensor, and this level is kept at a constant by controlling the movement of the slide valve, stopper, etc., according to the detected result. In the case, the varying speed of the molten metal surface level 1 to be calculated 2 based on the variation of the molten metal surface level 1 outputted from the sensor exceeds a prescribed varying speed SV of the molten metal surface level, the operation of the slide valve and stopper, etc., is deferred in a specified time.
