Title:
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SLAG IN FLASH SMELTING FURNACE FOR COPPER SMELTING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3880731
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discharge molten slag of low copper grade to the outside of a furnace through a slag discharge hole provided to the outer-end side wall of a settler of the flash smelting furnace without mixing a matte.
SOLUTION: While blowing, powdery coke for keeping an operating temperature into a shaft 2 provided in a flash smelting furnace 1 and also keeping the layer thickness of molten slag 6 standing within a settler 3 to ≥500 mm, the molten slag 6 is discharged to the outside of the furnace through a slag discharge hole 8 provided, corresponding to the level of the intermediate part of the slag layer thickness in the height direction, to the outer-end side wall of the settler 3. Because the slag discharge is done by discharging the slag from the intermediate layer of low copper grade without discharging the slag from the upper-end and the lower-end layers of high copper grade, among the slag layers, the loss of copper into the slag can be reduced. Further, continuous tapping of the slag can also be performed by setting up the port diameter of the slag discharge hole 8 to 90 to 100 mm.
