PURPOSE: To coat a base material with paint having a specified viscosity with high reproducibility by using a spray gun and conveying the base material at a specified speed.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a base material 1 is recessed in a lattice shape 2. Pigment-contg. paint having ≤500cPs viscosity measured with a B type viscometer and 3-7 ratio of thixotropy at 6 r.p.m. to that at 60 r.p.m. is used. A spray gun for ejecting the paint is moved perpendicularly to the conveying direction of the base material at a speed ≥7 times as high as the conveying speed of the base material, the amt. of the paint ejected from the spray gun is regulated to 100-200cc/min and the surface of the base material is patternwise coated with the paint in the form of mist at 30-100cm interval from the gun. A building material having variety and fine appearance is obtd.
