Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an image having an axis of symmetry directed to a scheduled direction by calculating a point of symmetry as to each column (row) of the radiation image and connecting calculated points of symmetry to each other. SOLUTION: For each pixel at a certain position in a certain column, pixels in an aimed area or direct exposure area are excluded to find the maximum range of successive sums and the sum of symmetry differences around the center of assumed symmetry. Then reliability combined with the most symmetrical point of the column is found from a chain of a normalized symmetry measure and a combined reliability measure. Then linear minimum square adaptation to a data set and the combined measurement error is calculated from the chain of symmetry centers as to all columns and combined reliability measures so as to find the horizontal symmetry line of a position of an inspected body and a symmetry index corresponding to the horizontal symmetry line is calculated to obtain a perpendicular symmetry line and a combined symmetry index.
