To cast a slab with good casting surface.

The charging areas 14 of a flux 9 are provided at both end parts in the long side direction of a casting mold 2 with rectangular cross section. The flux 9 charged from a flux charging apparatus 8 into the charging area 14 is diffused on the whole surface of a molten metal 12. In order to uniform the slowly cooling effect by the flux 9 in the casting mold 2, the amount of the flux 9 per unit time charged into both end parts in the long side direction of the casting mold 2 is made to be larger than that of the flux 9 charged into the central part in the long side direction of the mold 2.
