Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and a device for picture processing which quickly retrieve a pattern, that consists of plural elements and that is specified by their relative position relations, from a picture and to obtain a recording medium where a picture processing program is recorded.
SOLUTION: When a layout pattern M which consists of plural elements having fixed relative position relations and can be specified by position relations of individual elements is retrieved from a picture 20, the picture processor detects all elements in the picture 20 and temporarily records detection position information in a buffer picture 25 which has pixels corresponding to those of the picture 20 respectively and has the same size as the picture 20. Thereafter, the picture processor refers to the buffer picture 25 and confirms the position relations between elements to recognize the layout pattern in the picture.
