PURPOSE: To produce easily and continuously a fine wire by forming a moving liquid layer of a liquid medium to the surface of a member such as rotting roll and ejecting a molten metal as a jet into such liquid layer.
CONSTITUTION: A nozzle 5 for ejecting the liquid medium is disposed to the roll 1 which is provided with adequate rigidity and strength and rotates at a high speed. The cooling medium 3 such as water is stored into a hermetic tank 2 and is pressurized by a pressurizing device 4 so as to be ejected onto the surface of the roll 1 from a nozzle 5. the molten metal 10 is heated in a nozzle 8 and is then ejected therefrom by the pressure of an inert gas. The ejected metal is quickly cooled in a rotating liquid layer 6, by which the molten metal is made to a fine metallic wire 9. the temp. of the cooling medium 3 is made lower than an ordinary temp. and the ejection rate of the metal 10 is also maintained in the prescribed range below the surface speed of the roll 1. The wire 9 is continuously, stably and easily produced by the abovementioned method.
