PURPOSE: To provide a method for digging out rush seedlings capable of reciprocating a rush seedling digging out machine between adjoining rows planted with rush seedlings by an operator by oneself to carry out efficient digging out operation, reducing the burden of the operator and a labor cost, facilitating also after-treatment of each rush seedling due to cutting of the bottom of the root and the outer side of each rush seedling and to provide a rush seedling digging out device.
CONSTITUTION: This rush seedling digging out device is equipped with a boat 12, a winding part 14, attached to the boat, for winding a cord 13, a driving part 16 for operating the winding part and a rush seedling digging part 18 held on the under surface of the boat. The digging out part is provided with a cutter 52 capable of cutting in the horizontal direction. One end of the cord rewound from the winding part and extended is held on one side of fastening parts installed at both opposing end parts in a field. As the boat is moved by winding the cord on the winding part, the root part of a rush seedling is cut by the cutter and dug out.
