To provide a method of forming a water-retainable pavement, capable of easily forming a water-retainable pavement at low cost and increasing the cooling efficiency at high temperatures by uniformly storing water in a plurality of water storage boxes buried in ground.
In this method of forming a water-retainable pavement, a lower crushed stone layer 3 is formed on a road bed 2, and a plurality of water storage units 5 each, comprising a ceiling plate 7, having the water storage boxes 6 with each storing rainwater therein and an opening part, a ceiling plate 7 covering the opening parts in the upper parts of the water storage boxes 6 and having water passing holes and a water guide member 56 for lifting the rainwater in the water storage boxes 6, by utilizing capillary phenomenon are laid down in flat on the upper side of the lower crushed stone layer. A permeable filler member 20 is packed in the gaps between the water storage units 5, and a permeable sheet 8 is laid down on the water storage units 5. An upper sand cushion layer 9 is formed over the water permeable sheet, and a plurality of water-retainable pavement blocks 1 are laid down on the upper sand cushion layer.
