PURPOSE: To stably perform the operation of a press and to obtain a high-quality and high-precision lens by interposing a holding member consisting of a material which is not fused with a placing plate in the softening temp. of an optical glass material between the optical glass material and the placing plate and holding the optical glass material.

CONSTITUTION: The holding members 11 consisting of a material (e.g. quartz glass) which is not fused with a placing plate 1 in the softening temp. of an optical glass material 4 is interposed between the optical glass material 4 and the placing plate 1 mounted with the material 4 and the material 4 is held in the recess parts 3 of the placing plate 1. After conveying it to the inside of a heating furnace, heating and softening it, it is conveyed between an upper mold 5 and a lower mold 6 and press-molded to produce the optical parts such as a lens. Thereby since the material 4 is fused with the holding members 11 but not fused with the placing plate 1, the material 4 is smoothly brought up with the lower mold 6 and the pressing is performed.
